Let me preface this by saying that I am terrified to get my makeup done. I have had really bad luck in the past, most recently at my wedding trial. Most times, it ends up with me in tears, looking like I belong in the circus and not walking down the aisle.  So to say I am a little gun-shy about getting my makeup done would be an understatement.  My everyday look consists of boy brow, mascara, and chapstick. Quick and easy is my motto.  I am someone who hates the feeling of makeup on my face, so foundation, no matter how light, is still a no-go for my everyday use.

Enter the lovely Khira.

Khira and I were introduced by a mutual friend, and we discussed doing a holiday makeup look. Her sweet demeanor and beautiful Instagram photos helped me to put my fear of getting my makeup done aside. We ended up meeting at Organachs Farm to Skin in Westport.  To say I was in for a skin education was an understatement.

We had chatted before about what sort of “look” I would want for a holiday party. Whenever this girl sees make up ads or these fabulous looks on Instagram, I always gravitate towards smokey eyes, which my inept self couldn’t even attempt to do; I would look like a raccoon.

To start, she prepped my skin using Voya Cleanser for sensitive skin, Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator, Voya eye cream, and Kjaer Weis The Beautiful OiI. For the makeup, she used all organic makeup from brands including RMS, Ecobrow, and Kjaer Weis. Everything she used is included in the gallery below.

When she turned me around to look at the final product, I fell in love with the look. My skin looked dewy and fresh, and the makeup made me look like I had a Snapchat filter on, which in my book is just about the highest compliment you can give someone. I ended up wearing the makeup all day, which I know the people at Whole Foods, CVS, and the dry cleaner really appreciated.

If you are looking for a makeup artist in the area, Khira is your girl. Make sure to snap her up before she gets super famous and books up. Working with her was such a pleasure; I felt like I was in such good hands and that she was actually listening to what I wanted and was willing to change anything I didn’t like.

The place and the products: Organachs Farm To Skin. If you live in the Fairfield County area, you must visit. I am a person who considers myself healthy for the most part. Except for the occasional bag of Doritos or handful of Sour Patch Kids, I eat organic food, I drink green juices, and I do my best to avoid things like gluten and dairy. When it comes to skincare I could stand to up my game a little. I honestly had no idea there were stores that carried strictly organic beauty products. For people who have autoimmune diseases or allergies or are just trying to live a fully green life, this place is for you. The owner is so knowledgeable and passionate about organic skin care, and she knows everything about every product she carries in her store, which is so important. Their mission statement is ”We are passionate about natural beauty and have done the work for you – we found and tested the brands that deliver results with clean, pure, toxin-free ingredients,” and they most definitely are.

I am never going to be the person who reads the labels to check everything I put on my skin, and there are things I am not sure I can’t ever give up, like my Old Spice deodorant (which I learned is not good for me yesterday, and I am so sad about it). However, I am eager to start adding some organic things to my routine and see how they work out. I will keep you guys posted.
