Glossier, everyone has heard about it, or almost everyone, I should say. For those of you that don’t know about Glossier here are a few details on the company. It was started in 2014 by a former beauty editor Emily Weiss. She says “It's inspired by, and made for, real life: not for fashion shows, not for red carpet. You don't need to be an expert.” The products are all about skin care first and makeup second. I am horrible with make up. I mean horrible. I know absolutely nothing. My personal motto is less is better. My best friends are mascara, concealer and chapstick. So anything that makes my skin “glowey and dewy” with minimal makeup knowledge is pretty awesome. The products are super affordable so you can stock up and not feel guilty about it.
I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I spoke to a friend who I consult for all my skincare needs (thanks Lacy) and she had the BEST things to say about Glossier. Her suggestions were the Boy Brow in brown, Haloscope in moonstone, Balm Dotcom in rose and the Perfecting Skin Tint in medium. When the box came the first thing I noticed was the attractive packaging. The light pink tones make it look so delicious. The products come in little pink bubble wrap pouches that are perfect to keep in your bags or take on the airplane. There is something to be said for when you open something you ordered and it looks pretty. Here is my rundown on the items I purchased.
The Boy Brow: Is designed to keep you brows in place without being sticky and it does just that. You can get clear or it comes in three colors to fill your brows in a little.
The Haloscope: Probably my favorite thing, the most perfect highlighter. The outer ring is shimmery and adds color and the inner ring is meant to moisturize and keep your skin dewy. I have a Nars highlighter stick and it doesn’t even compare to this one. I got the moonstone which gives you a pearlescent glow, but I think the topaz would be amazing with a tan (need to get me one of those ASAP, the tan I mean).
Perfecting Skin Tint: I never wear foundation. I mean ever. I didn’t own it until about 4 months ago for my wedding. I can not say enough good things about this liquid skin tint. It is so light, no sticky makeup feeling which I hate, but still evens out your skin tone.
Bomb Dotcom in Rose: This totally lives up to its name, it really is the bomb. Coming from a chapstick connoisseur that means a lot. You can put it everywhere, lips, cheeks, cuticles, anywhere you are dry. It has a fairly thick consistency which I love, so it stays on for a long time. The coconut and rose are my favorite.
So is it worth the hype? Absolutely. I have already ordered my second round of products. They also released a cream blush yesterday called Cloud Paint that they debuted on the cheeks of celebrities at the oscars. Natural glow like Chrissy Teigen. Yes please. I scooped up beam and haze.
